There’s a Symphony of Silk in Town

11th February 20197th February 2019

There’s a symphony of silk in the high street at the moment, and I couldn’t be more excited.

A few days ago I wrote about a few of the top fashion trends we’ll be seeing throughout 2019. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out here. After pretty much starting my whole wardrobe again after a massive clearout, (check out my YouTube channel too)  I’ve been keenly watching the fashion blogs, influencers and the high street for a new fashion sense. Getting a little out of my comfort zone, but really embracing the experience, and it’s been so much fun.

Head to any of the major high street brands such as Topshop, River Island,  Mango, H&M, and you’ll see a selection of beautiful silk style items, Ranging from silk blouses to silk style slip skirts and dresses, and even silk headband accessories. If it’s not something you would usually try out, now is a great time to experiment.

For a classic look go for a single colour item with no print and see how you feel. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, Topshop has a great selection of animal print/dye print (not tye dye) items that also give it a real edge. Historically, I found silk to be quite unforgiving over any lumpy bits but with the right underwear and a seasonably trendy chunky knit jumper, all is hidden and it’s a really flattering chic look.

Animal prints are also going nowhere. It seems we can’t get enough. Leopard is my preferred style of them all (everything else is a bit creepy at the moment) and textures are huge too, anything from patent to croc inspired to suede and of course silk.

Maybe try an item you haven’t tried before or even a change to texture. I think this works really nicely to bring about a refreshed look and it’s quite expensive x.
