If you’ve read the first part of my skincare 101 posts, you’ll know that getting into a great routine is the beginning of all great skin. My journey into discovering luxurious skincare products started a few months ago. I found my makeup didn’t really apply evenly or last throughout the day. And so, I decided to go back to basics.
Firstly, I introduced a simple skincare routine to my mornings. I decided to try and find a moisturiser that would be light enough to not clog up my pores but matt enough to not add to my oily skin problem.
After reading several reviews and asking for some advice, I soon found myself at the Clarins beauty counter. I was pleasantly surprised with my two new purchases. The Clarins Hydra-Matt Lotion and the Clarins Extra Firming Eye Lifting Serum has worked amazingly. For someone who had previously not paid so much attention to face creams, it has made such a fantastic difference to my skin.
The Clarins Hydra-Matt is a really lovely light lotion which is easy to apply. It spreads over the skin beautifully in quite a thin layer and just sinks it. My face feels moisturised but not weighed down. It doesn’t leave me looking shiny and neither do I look extremely dry (as some mattifying lotions do) which is great. I’m still using this product as I think it’s great for combination/oily skin types and you get a really good size for the price. I’m super happy with it.
The Eye Serum is equally lovely and a little goes a long way. This product I’ve just been tapping (not rubbing) around my eyes to complete the skincare routine. I’ve been told I don’t really have any wrinkles at the moment (but I think I can see them trying to creep in) but this formula promotes keeping wrinkles at bay by just ensuring the skin around this precious area is kept well hydrated and firm.
The thing I love about these products is that they both come in an easy to use pump, which means no contamination with mucky hands and they are a generous size too. They’re not heavily scented at all, which is a must for me. It’s undeniable that they are a great price for the size and the quality of care they provide.
I’ve previously used some drugstore face creams but Clarins far outweighs them. In comparison, they still seem a little heavier and thicker to the lightness of Clarins, which is why I really love this Clarins combo.
I think Clarins is a great place to start for affordable but luxury skincare. I’ve been super pleased with the results so far. I can’t wait to try out a few other products in their range, and I’ll definitely be back for more.
